Each term, we offer a wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities, as well as a comprehensive wrap-a-round care facility.
Our extended day includes Breakfast Club which takes place every day in the school dining room from 7.45 am to 8.15 am. Pre-Prep children are taken to their form room by a member of staff. At the end of the day, Pre-Prep children may also attend one of two clubs: ‘4.15 Club’ is for those children with siblings in the Prep School or whose Pre-Prep siblings are attending an after school activity. Acorns Tea Club runs from 3.30 pm until 6 pm each day and provides structured activities and games, as well as a high tea of sandwiches, fruit and a drink, the charge is £10 per session.
The exciting range of lunchtime and after school activities changes every term to provide the opportunity to try new things and use the school facilities extensively. They may include: fencing, tennis coaching, judo, karate, Lego club, art, ballet, multi-sports, cookery, fun Spanish, crafts, sewing, Glee Club, forest school, cycling, golf, Diddi Dance, Rugbytots and football training with Portsmouth Football Club. The cost of each club varies but typically ranges from £45 to £65 per term. Lunchtime activities take place once the children have eaten their meal, and after school activities take place from 3.30 pm until 4.15 pm.
Individual and small group music lessons are also available during the school day in any instrument. Usually, these lessons begin in Year 1 or Year 2. More information on this is available from the school office.
Every Oakwood pupil swims once a week in our heated, covered pool as part of the normal school timetable but private swimming lessons are also available and can be arranged by contacting Chichester Swim School directly (https://www.chichesterswimschool.com). Private lessons and parent and baby/toddler swimming sessions are open to everyone, whether or not the children are Oakwood pupils.
