Little Oaks Pre-School Nursery & Kindergarten

Our Little Oaks Nursery and Kindergarten are the first steps in an Oakwood education. We build strong relationships with each of our children and take great care in getting to know them as individuals. The children settle well into our wonderful family community. Parents appreciate how well we know the children and are confident leaving them in our care.

A key priority for our youngest children is on building a solid foundation of social skills and a love of learning, which enables the children to settle confidently to school life and supports their personal development and sense of wellbeing. The children benefit from being an integral part of the larger school community and enjoy interactions with older pupils as well as regular activities with our specialist teaching staff who support the Little Oaks team. They have full use of our school facilities including our beautiful woodland, extensive fields, swimming pool, Library and more.

Discover our Pre-School

Little Oaks Pre-School welcomes children into the Nursery at the age of two to three years old. Our Nursery is accommodated in its own welcoming building close to the Pre-Prep and benefits from its own extensive outdoor play area. Children move to Kindergarten in the academic year they turn four years old. The Kindergarten classrooms are situated within the Pre-Prep in a converted stables block around a busy and vibrant courtyard with access to several outdoor play areas including our Brewhouse discovery garden and Pre-Prep playground. Being outdoors is a real focus for pupils to develop their creativity, imagination and physical development.

Our Little Oaks Staff

Little Oaks Pre-School staff are all qualified and have a wealth of experience in Early Years Education. We maintain a ratio of 1:5 in Nursery and 1:8 in Kindergarten and we are proud of how well our staff know the children and their individual needs and interests. All of our Early Years specialists have outstanding pastoral skills, creativity, patience and a sense of fun! Staff welcome regular open communication with parents to ensure there is a strong link between home and school with every child benefiting from having a 'Key Person'.

Creating a welcoming environment

At its heart, Oakwood is a family orientated, community minded school of which our Pre-School plays an important role. We know that Nursery and Kindergarten, as part of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) of education lays the groundwork for a successful transition to full time education and achievement of individual potential. We encourage our children to try new activities and focus on them building their confidence and ability to communicate with friends and staff members. We believe one way to help them do this is to create a healthy and safe space in which to grow.

Wrap around care

We recognise that working parents rely on our wrap around care provision within the academic year and in school holidays. Therefore, we offer Breakfast Club, After School Care and Activities and provision for 50 weeks of the year.
