Welcome to the Oakwood Friday Flyer.
If there are revisions to the information within this flyer, we will communicate any changes directly with the parents of the pupils affected, by Parentmail.
Chichester Festival Speech & Drama Programme - tonight, Saturday and Sunday
The Chichester Festival Speech and Drama Programme starts this evening at 5pm with Year 5 pupils.
Tonight's (Friday) Programme: Due to the rapid turnaround after school, performing Year 5 pupils will stay in school this afternoon and receive a light tea until they are seated in the Lyne Hall with their parent(s) or guardian. Pupils should stay in school uniform with a blazer.
Tomorrow and Sunday's Programme: Parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times, and ensuring that their children register for each performance; we advise arriving 20 minutes prior to each performance to do this.
Please can all children wear smart performance black. This means dark black/grey/dark blue trousers/ jeans, no ripped jeans or short skirts. If your child has a CFMDS long sleeved T-shirt they may wish to wear this, and we also have some available to buy from the school office for £10 (cash only).
Parents are reminded that once their child has performed, they and any family spectators must stay seated until all children have performed within their programme section and the Adjudicator has provided their feedback. *Please note, on Saturday morning, the Year 4 Poem Class has a short interval at 10.40am. All performers are expected to stay for BOTH halves as the Adjudicator will provide feedback at the end only.
This year the Festival at Oakwood is being supported by a small Cafe, run independently by several of the Oakwood Catering Team. A range of sandwiches, sausages rolls, crisps, chocolate, cakes and tea & coffee will be available to purchase (cash only). Timings: Saturday 8am-4.30pm and Sunday 8am-1.30pm.

Little Green Shop Update - Items suitable for donating/selling
In order to streamline the stock in the Little Green Shop, going forward the parent volunteers will be focusing on stocking just branded and Oakwood specific uniform items.
As such, we will no longer be accepting donations of generic and non-uniform items. This includes:
White shirts, grey shorts and trousers, base layer skins (tops and bottoms), tights, ankle socks and shoes.
We are grateful for donations already received, but thank you for your future support with just donating Oakwood specific uniform.
A reminder that we do have an Astra clothing and shoes recycling bin by the Year 4 classrooms which does generate money for the school's Green Team budget should you have any generic items to recycle.
INSET Day 14th February (next Friday!) - Pathway Football Camp
A reminder to parents that we have an INSET day next Friday 14th February.
Pathway football will be leading a camp from 8.30am to 1pm for children in Reception to Year 6 - click here to book: Inset Pathway Camp 14th Feb.
We regret that due to staff training there will be no Camp Little Oaks or CSS Activities Camp available on this day.

Lunch Menus: 10th-13th February
Our meals at Oakwood are homemade, using locally sourced food, by our wonderful catering team.
Please see below for detailed allergen advice for next week's lunch menus.

Oakwood Summer Party - Auction Prize Donations Request
Planning is now well underway for the Oakwood Summer Party (discounted early bird tickets are coming soon!) and Year 2 parents would like to ask the wider school community for auction prize donations. We are on the hunt for auction prizes, large and small!
- Does your work lend you the opportunity to offer a behind the scenes tour? Or a ‘get involved’ experience?
- Do you have a beach hut standing empty for a day or two this summer?
- Do you have a friend with a skill who might be willing to donate something for us to include? For example, a butcher happy to offer an hour-long intro to butchery, or a chef who could offer the chance to shadow in a professional kitchen.
- Anything and everything that feels normal to you could be something another family would love to try out!
In the past things like riding on a combine harvester and staying in an empty holiday home have been huge earners for the charity auction so please do give this some thought and let us know what might be possible.
If you would like to donate an auction prize, please contact one of the party organisers Suzie Brown - suziemebrown@gmail.com
Thank you so much in advance for your support.

Tiger Tags Name Labels - Fundraising Initiative
Tiger Tags is a new School Name Tag Supplier, powered by Xmas4Schools who we have worked with before.
We have partnered with Tiger Tags who provide customised name labels in both sticker and iron-on form for all your child's school uniform and equipment. Should you decide to purchase name labels from them (www.tigertags.co.uk), the school will receive a fundraising donation of £1.00 for every order placed. Please add our unique school ID 2767 on the final page when entering your checkout details
We would of course wholeheartedly encourage you to label all your child's possessions clearly as this saves valuable school time and resources in terms of lost property and also provides you with significant savings in not having to replace lost items.
The fundraising potential we have with using Tiger Tags is also a clear bonus and will be a very welcome addition to our other charity fundraising activities.
If you need any further information, please contact the school office (office@oakwoodschool.co.uk) who will be happy to help.
