Oakwood's Got Talent Finals

Oakwood’s Got Talent was a huge success and has raised a lovely amount for our school charities; thank you to ALL children who performed. Particular well done to our finalists who performed their acts again this morning, and the overall competition winners ‘The Teachers’ from Year 5 - Bertie, Jo, William, Max B and Jamie!

Sustainability 'Snippets'

During the last 18 months we have been completing activities to gain points for the Woodland Trust’s Green Tree Schools Award and we are delighted that we have now achieved the gold standard!

Years 3 to 6 have all contributed, using time in their English lessons, outdoor learning lessons and Green Team slots.

Activities have included tree dressing (during the Christmas Fair), inventing Tree Heroes, designing Titania and Oberon’s world in the woods, using time in the woods to inspire creative writing and poetry, shredding our own paper waste for composting, having a rota to deposit our food waste in the hot bins and even having a tree tea party! Importantly, we have also planted many, many saplings, focusing on creating wildlife friendly habitats. Hopefully, the more time children spend amongst trees, the more they will love, appreciate and want to look after them.

Well done to our Senior Boys who competed at the IAPS Boys Cricket Festival in Southampton last Friday. Our four Oakwood sailors achieved an outstanding result in challenging water conditions on Wednesday in Weymouth. Our two crews placed 1st and 3rd overall, out of 34 crews! IAPS didn't announce a winning overall school, but it would have been us!
